The price of a mistake when driving a motorcycle is incommensurable with that of a car: those who are on two wheels are protected neither by the body, nor by belts, nor by airbags. What do you need to know and remember in the first place?

  1. Do not exceed
The trouble with so many drivers who ride a motorcycle is excessive, unsupported self-confidence. Any modern sports bike can gain 200 km / h in about eight seconds, and the maximum speed of sometimes even crosses the 300 km/h mark.
  2. Warning, intersection.
The places where roads intersect sometimes also cross someone’s fate. Yes, a motorcycle is more maneuverable than a car and in most cases, the green light goes first or manages to skip to the “long green” last.

3. Beware of the rain.
Water on the road is very dangerous! And alas, many of our roads are not designed in the best way in terms of safety. Therefore, bad diversion of water, tarred cracks, joints, combs and a lot of other surprises from the road builders in bad weather can easily lead to the fall.

  1. Away from the cables.
Cable barriers have recently appeared on many highways. They are cheaper to produce, but in Europe, there were even actions and protests against cables, which are a real threat to the lives of motorcyclists, even in case of contact at low speeds. Be a hundred times more careful!
  2. No stunts.
Wheelie on the public road is taboo! Even if an extremely experienced rider is riding in general traffic at 200 km/h on the back wheel, the slightest mistake while landing or making contact with a car may become fatal: I know at least five sad cases.
  3. Take care of your equipment
Jammed brake calipers, torn main gear chains, worn tires – all these faults on a motorcycle can be fatal. It is necessary to estimate a condition of technics as in aviation – before each flight.
  4. Consider the realities
Any mistake you make may be fatal. For example, one of my trips to Chui tract I mistakenly estimated the traffic as minimal, passed almost every turn on my knee. This surprised a local resident, who was not used to motorcycles, lying in the turn at the speed of 100 km per hour.
  5. Thinking for others
A very common type of accident – when a motorist either turns left or turns around, and the fast and sudden motorcyclist, deftly overtaking everyone on the left, suddenly and too late notices the side of the car in front of him.
  6. There is no motorcycle lane.
Of course, there is no motor lane near the separating barrier on the highways, but with the traffic jams 24 hours a day, motorcyclists ride there. And many of them don’t ride, but rather fly.
  7. Draw the centerline in your mind.
Roads without a median are still the majority. Just imagine that at the oncoming 90 km / h and your own speed, for example, 110 km / h you get 200 km / h at the time of the collision!
